This week Sophie writes a poem!
Nails are groovy. Nails are fun.
They help dogs dig. They help dogs run.
But nails need trimming, don’t you see,
And therein lies the quandary.
Some dogs lie upon the floor
And let you trim their nails. What’s more
They’ll let you bug them all day long.
It feels like love – it can’t be wrong.
Others need a valued treat
Before you touch their ticklish feet.
It’s a rather tricky science
To find the food that buys compliance.
Some have very strong opinions
Regarding who will have dominion.
“You are not the boss of me!”
Think all-star wrestling on TV.
A few will need a sleepy drug
To not act like a doggy thug.
They fall asleep. Voila! It’s done!
And everyone was having fun.
The moral of this toes-y tale
Is laxity should not prevail.
Touch their feet at puppyhood
And toenail trimming can be good.
